When you have to weld aluminum outside is there a way to do it without using gas

Reply:There are stick welding rods made for aluminum which would be the only way to weld aluminum without gas that I am aware of.Of course, those stick aluminum rods are a unique experience unto themselves. Some love em - some hate em. Either way, the material thickness that they are usable on is a limiting a factor. Welding Web poster "Rick V" did some research with aluminum stick rods a couple years back contained in about 2 to 3 different threads that makes for some good reading if you do some searching.
Reply:The 3/32 are really too soft to stick weld with, get the 1/8th if you have to use them. Definitely not an option for thin aluminum.
