I need some answers on welding primer never used this primer befor but after i weld this spot their is no way to get it with regular primer so here i go.1 do i need to take all the mill scale off when i mig with this primer2 will i get good contact and arc using this primer when co2 mig welding3 do i need to prime after i weld with this primer or can i use regular primer
Reply:i use the weld through primers in the areas that i weld but i grind or wire brush the area where my welds are going to be. so the primer is actually only in the "blind" spots that you cant see. i have never gone to any great lengths for surface prep for the primer other then making sure it was free of dirt, oil and debris. i do let it dry for a while so the solvents dont flare up and burn off.in the areas after i weld i use a self etching primerbobs77vet/37ford4drEastwood digital TIG200HH190Lincoln Invertec 155sLincoln weldpak 100sears/craftsman (lincoln) 50a 240v buzz boxO/A rig Harris gaugesnexion cut 50 dxchicago electric (HF) 240v spot welder
Reply:i have alot of places that after i weld the metal into place i cant get back into so their is alot to prime so i dont have problem later. I am going to grind the mill scale off just to make for sure their are no problems it will be on my car after all.
Reply:heres a thought.....on big areas that will be hidden from sight but will not be welded on the rustoleum cold galvanizing compound works very well. the zinc in it makes it very good against rust but the zinc also makes it very hard to weld. this would be a great product for coating areas that are hidden but not necessarily welded on, but you can weld through it if you have to itbobs77vet/37ford4drEastwood digital TIG200HH190Lincoln Invertec 155sLincoln weldpak 100sears/craftsman (lincoln) 50a 240v buzz boxO/A rig Harris gaugesnexion cut 50 dxchicago electric (HF) 240v spot welder |
