mig welder $804

im looking at getting a mig welder which i was looking at the lincoln 180c mig its $804 with free mask. Is their a better welder for the same price with the continuous control settings that i would love to have.
Reply:The welding mask is more or less a waste of time.   Buy a real mask.As for comparable, consider ThermalArc 181 and for more money the Miller 211 - all about the same class of machine.  For the Miller you can run it off 110V - which could be a life saver.As for continuous vs. tapped.   Plenty of people get by with tapped MIGs.  If you spend enough time with a machine you might get to the point were you know to bump it up .2V etc.  I wouldn't call that a deal breaker.One thing you can do is shop used.  If you stick to the brand names Lincoln, Miller Hobart, Esab etc.   You can always turn around and sell the welder for the price you picked it up.  Peak at Craigslist.Con Fuse!Miller Dynasty 350Millermatic 350P-Spoolmatic 30AMiller Multimatic 200Hypertherm PowerMax 1000G3Miller Maxstar 200DX

Reply:Really like my TA181i. Welds like a big machine. Have not tried the TIG yet. I bought the TIG torch with mine and it comes with a new helmet offer that you have to send off for, should be here any time. The machine with out the TIG torch was $815 and the TIG torch was $110. http://store.cyberweld.com/tharcfa18miw.html Cyberweld was great to deal with. They had my machine to me in a few days. If i can grow my shop to the point of putting up a second machine it will be another TA181i.
