Hey guys, i just obtained my B pressure and am looking into setting up a rig here pretty soon. I am wondering what all is needed to run a rig as your own business? As well, aside from the truck, welder, and skid what tools and equipment would be necessary for pipe welding in the field?

Reply:I have seen guys loose their house and most everything they own because they had the bank finance everything to get started. My advice to you is get a welding job first so you can support yourself and your family, start buying equipment with money you saved from your job and doing weekend welding jobs. Slowly start picking up welding stuff off Craigslist so you won't have to make huge payments to the bank every month. work hard and build your business so you won't have to pay it all back to the bank in interest.I have been welding for over thirty years and not once did I have to go to the bank for money, I own everything the bank owns nothing. I plan on keeping it that way.Just my 2 cents from my experience, good luck. |
