Its been quite a while now but i remember a thread in this section of a fella who had made an extremely clean looking what i thought was a kitchen table. If i remember correctly its design was inspired by a ibeam style leg construction, and a heavy wooden top. No welds showing on the legs. He also had another table or shelf that he made. Anyways i was extremely impressed and my wife and i have been talking and i think ill be making one for her for christmas. Sorry for the vague description but i do remember there being quite a few people commenting on that particular thread, unfortunately i DIDNT!Thanks in advance guys
Reply:I remember this, I want to build one too.Did some looking:  http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...ighlight=tableThe hard part is going to be sourcing the wood

Reply:your in wpg glen? i am from brandon lol
Reply:Thats not enough distance to stop me.Let me know where you get the wood from, I'll need a top eventually.
Reply:I have a friend who is a master timber framer, whom also is building our new timber frame home. Hes better setup than i am at his shop so he is going to be making the table top and ill take care of the finishing. its going to be dark figured walnut, 4' x 8' x 2" thick. As for the legs i went the complete opposite direction from the picture of the "ibeam style" i decided to challenge myself and copy this particular leg in steel, i shouldve taken progress pictures, but i have about 4 full 10hr days into one leg so far, almost done, zero visible welds. Still havent quite decided on a finish yet for the legs, the top is going to be fairly dark so i was thinking maybe a charcoal hammer tone paint, then maybe taking a fine emery cloth to all the corners to reveal some material to give it a more "worn" look, and then a clear coat.
