Reply:Nice work man, I really like the nails. How much for 12 of them? I have an idea for a project they would be perfect for. Also would you be willing to share the drawing if the welder you cut out? I want one.Offering CNC Plasma cutting and welding projects.Follow me on facebook https://www.facebook.com/nobigdeal.fabSupport those that support WW.
Reply:2tailfins- thanks alotNoBigDeal Fab- How long do you want the nails to be? and would 1/4 inch be a good thickness for you? I will have to catch up with my buddy to save the drawing off his usb cause he saves everything we cut out on his usb for safe keeping cause he never leaves home without it?
Reply:1/4 inch would be fine. And they can be short, they will be used as decoration, and not actually hold anything together. Anywhere around an inch long is plenty. They will only be driven in about a half inch, to all the way. As I want it to look old like some of the nails backed out a bit.Offering CNC Plasma cutting and welding projects.Follow me on facebook https://www.facebook.com/nobigdeal.fabSupport those that support WW.

Reply:Here is the beginning to a project I'm doing for the local college. It will be a cabin based on the late colonial time period and I was introduced to the project because they needed me to make the door handle and hinges for the doors and windows. Here is first series of twists, this is 1 inch square stockHere is first twist hammered back squareHere is the final twist, the famous pinapple twistHere is a hardy hole cutter/splitter I made today out of some scrapHere is the arial viewI rushed threw this so the welds werent pretty but they will be very functional.
Reply:Let's see some pics of the forge . I love this stuff, would like to build one for my garage....
Reply:We are in the process of building a forge for the college for the students to use. I am almost done with my welding certificate and work for the college in the shop up there. A student brings in his personal forge to if me and him have big project but for smaller stuff I use a oxy-fuel torch with a big rosebud heating tip on it. We have a rosebud tip that goes up to 198,000 btu so it will get almost anything hot enough to forge in no time. I will post pictures when I start assembling the forge ordering the steel for it tommorrow.
Reply:Sweet...be sure to do a build thread. I'm interested to see how you do it. Is the one you are building going to be propane?
Reply:I'll do a build thread, and most likely we will be using propylene gas or mapp gas.
Reply:Here is the finished door handle for the vintage cabin that I forgedThere is the beginning to a set of door hinges that I am working on for the cabinand a final close up of the door handle, and you can see where I drifted a square hole on each side of the door handle and I will be making nails for the door.
Reply:Here is a forged keychain I made today. Boredom get the best of us.Finished in my oil treatment and clear coated
Reply:Here is a hammer head I've been working on the past day or so, it is made out of S7 tooling steel. It started out being a 6 inch long 2x2 machined piece of stock. I cut the angles with a bandsaw and grinded and sanded all the edges to the desired shape. The hammer head will be hardend when I am finished then have a black oxide bath and most likely have a wooden hickory handle. Here is the begining to my part of my parents christmas present, cut out on CNC plasma table
Reply:Here is the biggest cross ive made it is also the thickest. I made this out of a scrap piece of 01 tooling steel, this was one of the harder pieces ive forged because of the work hardening properties.
Reply:7a749- thanks alot, I like your stuff alot you have a good attention to detail on your art. |
