The work we've been getting is getting bigger and heavier. Needed a set of stands to work from. So I had some scrap and helper had some time so we put this together. Made the top wide enough to work off of and clamp to for small jobs and heavy enough to support the work we get in.Solid and stable so another is in the works.Al Attached ImagesA man is judged by what's between his legs...always ride a good horseMiller DialArc HFLincoln Classic 300DThermal Arc 181iPowermax 45Scotchman Ironworker(2) BridgeportsOkomota Surface GrinderAutoCAD 2010

Reply:Nice and if you ever need anything for a bumper for a rail siding, you are all set! I like the idea of the wide flange on the top. It gives you a good area to clamp to anywhere on the top if you need to. The wide base will certainly be solid. The only down side I see is that in my experience wide flat bases don't sit as well on uneven ground, as as compared to horse legs with say 4 points of contact. The up side is on soft ground it won't sink in like the 4 legged saw horses I have under heavy loads. Guess it's a balancing act depending a lot on what sort of ground you are working on..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:There wasn't much design in these. The steel is salvage from some old forklift battery racks. The legs were just as they were. All we did really was put the top on after some cutting and grinding.Definitely heavy. One young guy could probably carry it around. Takes 2 of us old fellas. Sits pretty stable in the gravel or on the shop floor. Nice having something lower than the benches we have. Be a lot less scary than the grossly overloaded horses we been using before. One reason I wanted these done is my new young helper said he could weld. This was a good project to see if I can turn him loose on less critical jobs. Gave him some 6010 and 7018 and told him to go to town after I tacked things together. He done pretty good so I guess I'll have to jack up his pay.AlA man is judged by what's between his legs...always ride a good horseMiller DialArc HFLincoln Classic 300DThermal Arc 181iPowermax 45Scotchman Ironworker(2) BridgeportsOkomota Surface GrinderAutoCAD 2010

Reply:Dean, give me a call when you get a chance. Business been good last half of the year and we should have some big projects get turned loose beginning of next year. I'm sneaking on here today every so often while I'm working on drawings for a rush job we have going this weekend.AlA man is judged by what's between his legs...always ride a good horseMiller DialArc HFLincoln Classic 300DThermal Arc 181iPowermax 45Scotchman Ironworker(2) BridgeportsOkomota Surface GrinderAutoCAD 2010
