What cause these little bumps in the weld? And how can I stop them? SIN CITY METAL WORKSvisit my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/devvon
Reply:wd40,More info would be helpful.Welder usedSettings (Amps, freq (if adjustable), etcFiller (4043 or 5356 or other)Based on the photo only, a "guess" would be that you're melting your filler with the arc rather than the puddle.  Also would appear (from the black spot) that you "dipped" the tungsten.  When this happens, you need to refresh the tungsten.  It will not "clean itself back up with use".Do you have the same "bumps" when welding a straight line bead?Think it comes down to technique and how you're handling your filler.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.
Reply:Surface crap will also do that..Inside and out must be clean or else the crap will float from the inside to the top of the weld.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Silicon from 4043 migrates to the surface causes those little nodules when an excess of heat builds up.Switch to 5356.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li  ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.

Reply:As noted by Zip above also pay attention to your gloves. You can clean and wipe down your material and filler rods but then if you grab your filler with some dirty or oily gloves you would be introducing some new contamination. Just a thought as I have been guilty of this. How do you know the blacksmith's dog? When you hollar at him he makes a bolt for the door!
Reply:So you are using 4043 as the filler or not?Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li  ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.
