I have a miller Aircrafter 330st that I currently tig and stick weld with. I found a Millermatic 10e wire feeder that I would like to add to it. Is this possible? I know nothing about power supply requirements for wire feeders. The Millermatic 10e is currently hooked up to a Miller CP200. Will it be plug and play hooking it up to my 330st? thanks for all the help!!Last edited by imc188222; 02-20-2012 at 05:02 PM.Reason: spellingMiller millermatic 251Miller aircrafter 330st, wp201961 Lincoln SA200Ellis 1600 bandsawLogan 820 latheSouth Bend 13"Bridgeport M Head
Reply:That machine is a CC machine, so no, you will not really have good luck running "mig" with it using a feeder as the short answer. You might be able to make a VS type work in CC mode, using large wire FC in spray, but it's not what most think of when they think of mig. VS feeders in CC mode will not run small wire short arc mig well simply because the feeder can not adjust the wire speed fast enough to mimic CV. If you are looking to do heavy welds on thick steel, this might be an option, but if you are looking to do "mig" on material less than say 3/8" I doubt this will do what you want..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Thanks for the reply. Next question. Is there a wire feeder that will work with my 330st? Obviously I don't really understand this lol.Miller millermatic 251Miller aircrafter 330st, wp201961 Lincoln SA200Ellis 1600 bandsawLogan 820 latheSouth Bend 13"Bridgeport M Head

Reply:I figured out VS stands for Voltage Sensing and now the answer makes sense. I guess these VS wire feeders that people advertise will work on any DC welder aren't quite what they claim they are.I also just figured out that the CP200 is a 3 phase machine so I guess I have no use for it.This CC, CV, VS stuff reminds me of welding class in college. I guess if you don't use it you lose it.Miller millermatic 251Miller aircrafter 330st, wp201961 Lincoln SA200Ellis 1600 bandsawLogan 820 latheSouth Bend 13"Bridgeport M Head
Reply:The CP200 is a 3phase 220V machine, but the 10e spooler runs off 120V, 1phase. You should see a NEMA L5-15 (3 prong circular config with one prong bent inwards) connector on the front of the CP200 toward the left center of the front of the machine, I think it's labeled 120V.I was considering using a 10e on a 220V 1phase welder, and I think it would work, just by plugging the 10e into a separate 120V outlet.Tim
