Basic Argon fittings question

Is it ok to use a regular air hose couplers on my Argon regulator and the back of my welder?I want to use air hoses to run gas to my welder, so I can leave my large Argon tank secured in my shed while I weld in my driveway. I wouldn't think twice about it but when I removed the barbed hose fitting on my regulator I noticed the opening for the gas was a very small hole. I'm wondering if this is needed to regulate flow or if I can just thread on a normal air hose coupler in it's place. Thanks.Last edited by slagmatic; 06-05-2012 at 06:49 PM.
Reply:I've used them, and we set up more than forty MIG and TIG stations using (quality) pneumatic fittings.I also use one such setup at home to leak-check acetylene torches with argon or 75/25 since it's handy.I don't remove the regulator fitting, but instead use a Western adapter to go to 1/4" NPT and screw that into the back of a female thread in an air chuck. I can take that adapter anywhere."Western Enterprises AW-427 Adaptor" is what I use. They are cheap. Attached Images

Reply:I use regular air hose couplers on my set up for getting in and out of my gas mixer..(Modified)..6 years now and they do not leak at allIf they handle 120 PSI air they will handle 12-15 CFM all decade....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
