Well I busted a blade two weeks ago and replaced that one, then I busted that blade yesterday, got the wife to pick me up another one, busted that blade this morning.At a hundred and a half for a blade, I got just a little more than pissed. I terminated the chop saw. little itsy bitsy pieces. It was basically a disgusting site, of grown man, swearing and yelling at his chopsaw, throwing it across the shop, picked it up and threw it down again.I made sure that it was totalled, so that no one else could dig it out of the garbage where it rightfully belongs.Ordered a new Milwaukee and will be in the shop tomorrow by noon. Going back to the abrasive type blades.I somehow feel better now. The world tomorrow will be a better place, I have found peace within myself. I look forward to getting metal again.I shall swear no more.There's a method to the madness, disregard the method and the madness begins!!

Reply:Thanks James, I got the industrial model , my supplier said its a good unit, 400 and change, the Makita was double that.I will post what I think of it.Swamped with lots of truck work, every kind of collision and jack knifes. Got another Volvo and trailer in around noon tomorrow, in the ditch and a full day to get it out, should be a mess. Reply:here is a pic of a daycab that came in a couple of days ago, something hit the rear of the cab, dont know what.Typical repair, pull out floor section, remove interior, seats, replace back panel and uprights etd. Reply:BR, I don't own one of the cold saws, so I'll keep my mouth shut about them. Only one I ever used was in a machine shop, and I was told it cost $25,000, so I was real nervous around that thing.As far as abrasive cutoff saws go, I own 1, and it spends 99% of it's life sitting on a shelf waiting for a job to come up where it's necessary. The wiseasses at the steel yard were a bit less than impressed when I set it in their parking lot and ran it off the generator cause they were overcharging for cuts. It sure wasn't my fault their damn sign only said No Cutting Torches and didn't mention chop saws.We got a 4 day vacation from the snow here, and now it's back.PLEASE, keep the damn cold and snow on your side of the lake.Rigid used to make good tools, but they whored the name for volume sales in box stores. Reply:Here is a FRT, jack knife, hit pretty hard, into the floor, shoved the cab sleeper assembly over about four inches, replaced side wall and rear wall, floor section, complete interior out. took out all the side skirting as well.This repair involves alot of different skills, from aluminum welding to huck and buck rivets. Fab undercarriage frame channes etc. Fibreglass and SMC repair, mechanical, electrical and even upholstery.This truck has sat here, never started or moved for 11 days, and today it sprung a coolant leak. The day before I put in booth for paint. Anyone know why things like that happen. Rad comes out in the morning, and I will be dragging this around the yard with a forklift into the booth. Reply:the truck that broke my chop saw, the sleeper is inside the shop in pieces, together now, all sqared up, this cab looks good as it sits now, but has over 40 hours of work to it now with pulling equipment to align. I will take some pics of it when I have it all chained down to the floor, to apply 20000 pounds pressure to floor and cab structure to align. Must align with bunk perfectly so as no water leaking.Frame needs a little tweak too.Ever heard how a truck frame sounds when over 50000 pounds of pressure is applied to it, eery!!!! they can sure bend alot.Real fun when a chain breaks. Reply:Franz, a electrician buddy of mine was looking for pipe threaders a while back. I just heard yesterday that he ran into some bad luck, had his van stolen, no insurance. Lost all his tools built up over the years, damn.Yeah it seems al the manufacturers are lowering thier quality. Makita used to be such a good tool. Getting harder and harder to find good quality air tools as well. All offshore. Ir is still making some good stuff, I think they are the only ones.Don't tell anyone, but I bought a set of Taiwan budd wheel one inch drive sockets last week. 200.00. Snap On would be approaching 1000.00. They seem to be of decent qualtiy, but time will tell the first lug nut that is siezed, I will wear eye protection in case socket fly s apart.I don't need the snow here for about another 10 days, just enough time to clear the work in the shop, so you hang on to the white stuff till then.There's a method to the madness, disregard the method and the madness begins!!
Reply:heres a shot of the inside sleeper, looking down at the frame of the sleeper, frame rails all bent up, sectioned in this repair, chopsaw broke this morning cutting this material. Repair is done now, painted and exterior panels all replaced. Floor goes in tomorrow.Squared up sleeper, must be perfect, to mate with cab. Reply:James you can crank either of those dies by hand, or power. You might be acquainted with them being called "Beavers" or some other name. They drive from a 1" square shaft, and if you don't want to spend an hour and 45 minutes, hand crankin, you could drive the die with a pipe machine and whip rod, or what we call a pony down here. We are often seperated by a common language eh.The biggest Armstrongs I ever came across would thread 2" pipe, and had a handle span of about 6 feet. I was glad to leave them hangin exactly where I found them.As to the currency conversion, I know your damn quarters won't work for anything here, and seems like your dollar is worth about 60 cents. I could be off on the conversion.Right guy comes along with cash, I might even consider selling my pullers, but that's gonna take some cash.Appreciation Gains You Recognition-

He designs and builds 'em for Brinks, Loomis Fargo plus some specialized military vehicles. I'm sure he could fix ya' up with some plating to make them things more crash resistant!Crowd control vehicle for a foreign Carribbean government.
