I've got a chance to pick up a used Lincoln 110v mig with tank and cart. Everything works, I've tried it out. Guy wants $300 firm. High-Low-Fair?I'm just a hobby and farm welder with a Thunderbolt AC/DC rod burner and I need something for small stuff and tacking. I know the limitations of the 110 units.Any advice is appreciated!
Reply:Depends on which one it is and what size the cylinder is.If it were a 140 amp machine and a 80cf or larger cylinder I would pay that much for it.GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
Reply:not sure of the ampsthe tank is smaller than 80
Reply:Do you have any pictures of it?GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
Reply:Doesn't sound like a bad deal with a tank and cart. Lately used Lincoln welder prices have gone up on the used market.Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
Reply:New without a cart or tank the Lincoln 140c is just over $500 at Lowes.Use that for a yardstick.Be wary of The Numbers: Figures don't lie,. but liars can figure.Welders:2008 Lincoln 140 GMAW&FCAW2012 HF 165 'toy' GTAW&SMAW1970's Cobbled together O/A
Reply:Is it a little 90 or 100amp flux cored unit, or a mig capable 135 or 140 model???\That's thats the deal breaker....Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Reply:It is mig but I only used it with some FC wire when I borrowed it and that was last year. It worked fine and the guy hasn't used it since. He contacted me and wanted to know if I wanted to buy it. No pics yet but I'm going to go over to look at it tomorrow (Wednesday) night. I don't remember how many amps. The tank had a reg and hose and is about 2-3' tall. The Lincoln welder had some kind of NASCAR emblem on it also IIRC. I don't care about NASCAR anything but it seemed to be a Lincoln-NASCAR edition or something, not just a decal that somebody stuck on it.Thanks. At least it doesn't sound like he's too far out of line on his price. Looking up models it looks like it might be a 135

Reply:Could be a 140. You would be really lucky.Or a 3200hd. They made a lot of them. Just hope it's not the made in Poland ones.Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
Reply:If it the short in length, and taller model. That's the good USA ones.If the are long, and not very tall, there the cheap ones.Personally,I like hobarts better.Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Reply:if I needed one, I would pay 300 for a gas solenoid machine + bottlemy 100hd (no gas) has actually made me some money. I paid 80 for it, and have made over 1000 just in little odd jobs here and there. its mostly for the odd stripped bolt-head around in garage for welding nuts onbosses stuff:trailblazer 325maxstar 200my stuff:sa 200fronius transpocket 180100 amp Lincoln w/f97 f350 DITKevin
Reply:I have been at both ends of the spectrum. I drug 2 SP-125s from the dumpster at the welding supply and made one good one from the 2. I bought an SP-100 for 20.00 because it had the old Bernard gun that is obsolete and I had a brand new Magnum 100 I bought for 10.00(Thanks Menards!). My SP-135 I paid 300.00 for after the shop that bought it new up graded to larger machines.
Reply:I have an old lincoln 135 with magnum100 gun that I bought new back in 2003 for $500.The magnum100 doesn't like running lots of flux core at full tilt. With the gas bottle its totally worth 300.If its a C25 bottle, trade it for CO2 unless you plan to do sheet metal only with it.old Miller spectrum 625 Lincoln SP-135 T, CO2+0.025 wireMiller model 250 and WP-18V torchCraftsman 100amp AC/DC and WP-17V torchCentury 115-004 HF arc stabilizerHome made 4 transformer spot welderHome made alternator welder
Reply:Looked at it tonight. It's a weld-pak 135 pro- mig. It hasn't been used since I used it when I borrowed it a year ago. The guy bought a used 220v 125 Lincoln and I think he swapped the gas bottle since it is smaller than I remember it. He no longer needs a 110v unit. Comes with the cart, small bottle, reg, hose, and gun with some nozzles and 3 spools of wire. Funny thing is he is selling to finance heat for his shop space and I just happen to have a like new Lennox hanging gas heater that I don't need. Hehehe. No deal yet but I can see it happening. I might even get a little cash on a trade. I love to trade and barter.
Reply:That is a great buy on that machine.Let us know how it turns out.~JohnJust a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Trump/Carson 2016-2024
Reply:Well I got it in an even trade for a Lennox hanging gas heater. No money changed hands. I got the heater along with a commercial greenhouse frame and 48" box fan I bought 4 years ago for $400 for everything (the 22x48 frame is still in the barn in pieces with the box fan). Tank is full. Cart is rusty and needs to be cleaned up and repainted. Lincoln 135 is clean and looks good. Only bad is the tank and cart tipped over in the truck and the reg is now broke! Still, turned out to be a good day for a trade (since the commercial box fan is worth a couple hundred and the frame would scrap out for 400 if I never use it!)
Reply:Sounds like a good deal!Maybe you got lucky and only broke a 10.00 nut and nipple.
Reply:I wish. Gauge is what broke.
