Reply:Purchase "Printreading for Welders" by Thomas Proctor & Jonathan Gosse. Its expensive (its a text book), but is comprehensive.
Reply:Go to the Hobart School of Welding in Troy, OH. You can take individual classes there. I'm in a comprehensive program now that lasts for 9 months, and we took a two week class in blueprints, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. It was a lot of information to cram, but I honestly feel pretty good with my blueprint reading skills now. Highly recommended.[Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. See you on YouTube! -ChuckE2009

Reply:Learning the symbols, arrows, and section views will go a long way in helping you.  For me it was easier to sit there with a print and actually looking at the beam.  Lots of trial and error; not to mention coping the wrong beam flange!  It took me about two weeks to get where I was comfortable fitting beams.  The company I worked for did a good job of letting me learn, and also keeping up with the beams they sent to my horses.  They gradually gave me more difficult beams and tubes as I got better.  There is also a technique to fitting steel.  Some people lay our their beams as they go, but I always laid out my beams from start to finish.  I marked what part went where and only pulled my tape once.  It was easier for me to get in a rhythm that way.
