Hey everyone,Does anybody have any welding helmet chest protectors that they use or prefer? It usually attaches to the bottom of a helmet with snaps. Thanks!

Reply:http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3...beLDL9MLP7QVglI hate my self for complimenting 3m but they have full coverage products. Head covers, neck extensions, balaclava is the only way to weld for any amount of time. My chest and arms get burnt through leathers so I like to take it to the extreme. If I have to do something quick I don't put all that stuff on and it boggles my mind how much welding light is dancing off the inside of the hood. It is just such a visual distraction not to mention just not good for you.
Reply:when i ran flux core or dual shield all day i just duct taped a piece of an old leather welding jacket to the bottom of my shield. this picture's gotta be 30 years old but it shows how i did it. Attached Imagesi.u.o.e. # 15queens, ny and sunny fla

Reply:I went through all this years ago. The leather taped to the bottom of your hood works great until it rains. When the leather gets wet, you can't keep the hood up. Now fast forward about a hundred years, after wearing hardhat hoods all those years, and a neck injury, now with so much pain in my neck some days it almost takes me to my knees. I wish to God I would have just worn a bandanna around my neck, and kept the weight off my head.Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400 |
