Welding chain

My wife has a birthday coming up and I am planning to make her a little yard art out of chain, but I'm not exactly sure where to put my ground clamp. Can I just put it anywhere along the chain? Reply:You can clamp to one link, then weld the next link to it and move along from there. Just keep every link in contact with the next as you progress along the length of the chain, no jumping around to different sections.
Reply:No welded chains for a woman you love's birthday. My friend is a true romantic. His wife carries the firewood to heat the house. (20 ton a year) he bought her a new wheel for her wheelbarrow. His house is in the center of a pine forest. Dead trees must be cut. To direct where they fall he ties a rope high in the tree, she pulls on them, tipping them in an appropriate direction. He worried about her, she's getting older, she might not be quick enough to get out of the way. Her next birthday he got her a longer rope.Be romantic, get her something that took some thought, maybe a new vacuum cleaner.

Reply:Willie, Your freind is quite the woman's man.To the op, you can also get a short piece (12-24") of heavy gauge copper wire and wrap one end around chain and other end around ground clamp.  That way you don't have a bulky ground clamp right where you are welding.   I saved the left over wire when I wired up my shop's 220v just for that.Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
