What do you guys think? This is the first thing I ever fab'd. Attached Images
Reply:After everything was grinded down and finished up, I removed the stone tiles and powder coated the entire piece black. I also drille some more holes in the bucket so the fire could breathe better.   I also built a removable grill, the customer wanted one so he could use it as a BBQ as well.

Reply:great looking fire pit!  You put a lot of detail in that.  Is there a hole in the bottom for water to drain out?  (ask me how I know that you need one of those). How thick of steel did you use?good looking project.Kevin / Machine_Punk from The Aerodrome Studio - Lincoln PowerMIG 210 MP - Meco N Midget w/custom welding station - Vintage Victor 100Current Projects: The Aerodrome Studio

Reply:Here's the final product. I was pretty proud of it when it was all said and done. Attached Images
Reply:How much did you charge for something like that. With how cheep they are in stores I don't think I could ever sell one to a customer.a lot of cheep folks in our area
Reply:I sold mine for $300. But this one will outlast anything you buy in the stores. Alot of the pits you buy in store are made from really thin stuff and don't usually last more than couple years.  I would say that this fire pit will last AT LEAST five years.
Reply:I bet it'd probley last longer than that. I know the ones in the stores are cheep priced and cheep quality too. Sad thing is in today's times it seems like people are more than willing to sacrifice quality for a cheep Chinese product. It's a nice fire pit, keep up the good work
Reply:Thats a super Job well done
Reply:That looks great... Definitely something to be proud of!Any guesstimate of about how much it weighs?Millermatic 135Craftsman 7 Hp 80 Gallon           2 stage compressor
Reply:nice pit man , that's a pretty good first project like joseph said nobody wants to pay for stuff like that you always hear "i can get one just like that at home depot for $75.00 why should i pay $300 " well you and i know why , out of that $300 i'll bet half of that was materials that's the stuff people don't understand whats really funny is people will go buy the $75 2 or 3 times and not think twice but won't pay $300 for one that will last forever . thanks for posting the pics. chris

Reply:I'll probably do one with black and a really dark grey for my tile pattern and another with the same colors as the first. I got a really sweet deal on some high quality tiles, I only paid $1 per tile. I think they could easily of been at least $7-8 per tile in a hardware or flooring store.Man that's great, don't bother with the "I can buy the same thing for $xx.xx" people. You will never be able to convince them, stick to those people that appreciate the true hand made and (the key word here) custom made stuff. Who wants something 100,000 other people in town have. Be diffrent and show off your skills, all it takes is the right person to see it and you will sell 100's of quality pieces. (probably not all fire pits) but once a big shot doctor, a police chief, sports player, ect discover it and start telling people (who have money and appreciate quality) you will find the sky is the limit. My day job puts me in contact with these people, and it could not be better. Reply:[QUOTE=Tat2dHandz;2008071 I'm gonna start cutting material for 2 more. I've got a couple people that are interested in buying one too. I'm gonna see if I can fab 2 in the time it took me to do the first one like the guy said previously.  Thanks for all the good critique, it makes me feel good knowing there are people who can appreciate good work when they see it. I appreciate all the comments guys!![/QUOTE]I said you could PROBABLY make two in ALMOST the same time as the first. Like setting up to cut the angles for one particular part, while you have that set up, cut enough for two of the same or more. Just don't get in such a hurry trying to do both in the time it took to do one, that quality suffers. Make the next two as good as or better than the original, maybe make an improvement or two. But if the customers you have lined up already like the first, just make it the same.
