I started this over 15 years ago. It sat in the corner all cut, punched and unwelded. I just had to machine the ring to hold the jack and the ram holder for the bottom. I can change tooling in a second. I removed the u joints from a junkyard driveshaft to try it out in 5 minutes. Everyone that sees it wants one but i don't think i can compete with HF Tools. Those places weren't around when i started it...Bob Attached ImagesBob WrightSalem, Ohio Birthplace of the Silver & Deming Drillhttp://groups.yahoo.com/group/southbend10k/http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sawking/1999 Miller MM185 w/ Miller 185 Spoolmate spoolgun

Reply:Looks very nice good luck with it. Just watch under maximum pressure that things don't shoot out to the front or back. That seems to be the way they shoot out usually. I always tend to stand slightly left or right of center when I push my press to its maximum. You probably already know that, but others might not. Sincerely, William McCormick
Reply:Thanks William. Seems like no matter where i stand i am always in the "line of fire" LOL. Maybe i should put some OSHA guards on it...BobBob WrightSalem, Ohio Birthplace of the Silver & Deming Drillhttp://groups.yahoo.com/group/southbend10k/http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sawking/1999 Miller MM185 w/ Miller 185 Spoolmate spoolgun

Reply:I think you can compete with Harbor Freight.I have a 12 ton I bought a couple years ago, works fine, it is a bit sloppy however. Now I wouldn't mind building one and maybe someday I will, just don't have enough faith in my 110 mig.Looks like you did a great job, and have a better quality press then a HF.
Reply:Bob, it looks great to me. I may be totally wrong, but I see a pipe bender in there somewhere with just a little more engineering. I also agree with kcb37 in that your quality far surpasses HF, and had this been a HF press to begin with, you would have waited 15 years for the parts you needed, so net/net, no time lost. As an aside, I was born in Youngstown, and grew up in North Jackson, not too far from Salem. I remember it being beautiful country from around Salem down to Carrollton, especially in the fall of the year. Thanks, Oliver WalleyTweco Fabricator 211iThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Thermal Arc 186Victor O/ALincoln AC/DC 225
Reply:Thanks guys. I work in Y Town now. Prob retire there. Here are some more pics of a bending punch i made to make a brush guard for my neighbors tractor. I was bored so i used all of my power tools. I could have quit when i used the bandsaw but i wanted to use my little SBL 7" shaper too.
