Value of Scotchman Cold Saws and Clausing lathe

I did a job for a customer and they had some equipment they were looking to get rid of. They haven't started the process of selling it yet, so I'd like to make them a low ball offer on what they do have and hopefully they'll take it without thinking about it. They have a cold wet saw, a 3 phase cold saw (abrasive blade), and a Clausing lathe that is somewhat taken apart, not sure what's wrong with it. The production manager already told me I could have this stuff for pretty cheap as long as the boss man approves it. The one I really want is the cold wet saw. I'd also like the abrasive saw, and maybe the lathe for when I have time to restore it. So basically how much should I offer for the cold wet saw? It's an older Scotchman saw, 44/22 rpm, 440V, single phase. I think it's a 12.5" blade. However, it's missing a handle on the vise and when I tested it, the low gear did not work, made a grinding noise. The blade was about as worn out as could be, barely made a dent in the metal I was trying to cut, but the motor didn't bog down at all. So I would need to clean it up real good, replace the handle if I find that it's really bothering me, and possibly replace a gear for the low drive. I forgot to test the coolant pump so I'm not even sure if that's working. Like I said, he just said make an offer, so what's a reasonable asking price, and what's a great deal? I'd imagine scrap value on the thing would be a few hundred bucks. It's got the in-feed and out-feed tables as well.Also, anyone a Clausing lathe expert? I don't have any details on it yet, but it looked pretty clean and in good shape. The carriage moved around, but the motor cover was off and the guy said it didn't work but he couldn't remember why. Reply:If it is 440 it is 3 phase see if it can be wired 220 and use a phase converter.

Reply:Take a peek at ebay and see what the going rate is. The cold saw is not a cheapie, but it also has a pooched gear. Id give $400 for it, maybe about the same for the broken lathe.
Reply:I was gonna offer $1k cash for all 3. I think that's very fair. The abrasive saws goes for about $400 in working condition, the Scotchman for $2,500-$3,000 working, and the lathe for anywhere between $2,500-$5,000, also in working condition. Reply:Several 14" Scotchman low RPM cold saws in very good condition have sold in the Denver area at auction in the last year for under $1,500.00 each.  Some of them had multiple blades included.The lathe is not worth anything more that by the pound scrap price unless you have all of the parts in working condition or have located them and know you can buy them at a reasonable price.
