I've seen quite a bit of old oxyacetylene gear. Today I picked up a set of tanks with the intent to resell. They came with very solid 2-stage regulators, glass lenses in the gauges. The only maker indication was exactly 'S-S CO'. Anyone heard of these?metalmagpie
Reply:Made in New York if I remember, seen fairly often in military sets. I do not remember if they were a clone of another brand, or their own. If they were a clone there is a good possibility of being able to re-build them, if not, you might be SOL.
Reply:Here's one for $25. Reply:Yup, that's the company all right. S-S Co. from Brooklyn, NY. These regs look very solid and well made, kind of like Oxweld stuff. I think I'll haul them over to the repair shop and ask them.metalmagpie
Reply:Let us know what you find out. The closest I could find is the modern "Seal Seat" company but they don't list any parts so I don't know if they were formerly in Brooklyn. That "Colemans" advert is interesting because that reg appears to have been rebuilt and has generic replacement guages.
