I'm looking to buy a dynasty 200DX , but am really not sure what to get for accessories. I'm gonna be doing automotive fabrication, but want this welder to grow into. I know I need an LK or greater serial number. I would prefer to get a used one, but they're extremely hard to find. But, if I buy a new one, just power supply, I want to get the accessories that best fit my use. I was thinking of a water cooled torch, but don't know which one to get, or cooler pump to get. Should I piece it together or get a kit? I don't know what foot pedal to get either. Thanks
Reply:Building your own kit is usually the less expensive way to go.The SSC pedals are much less expensive than the Miller units. If I hadn't located a rebuilt Miller pedal cheap for my Maxstar 200, that's the way I'd have gone. Quite a few here have the SSC pedals and really like them. Water cooled you are looking at a 20 series torch. I'd look at the CK torches as they have a higher duty cycle compared to similar Weldcraft torches from Miller. Since the Dynasty has an internal solenoid, you don't need a unit with a gas valve. Can't help you on a suggestion for a cooler, but several guys have built their own..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Great, thanks! Do you think waiting for a used DX to pop up is a good idea?

Reply:I've been seeing them for 400 off retail and they are 5ys old. don't see why people keep trying to get new money for them.
Reply:Buy a new one with a warranty. People try and do get nearly new money for them. Boggles my mind. If anything goes wrong on a machine out of warranty, you're screwed with a very big bill. You might find one used in good condition because of the intro of the 280. Some reasonable people are upgrading. You know you can check the arc time and start count on them, right? As for a cooler, it depends a bit on your setup. If you have municipal water in your shop and somewhere for water to drain, you can make up fittings to plumb the water through the torch for pretty cheap. As long as your water is soft, you shouldn't have any problems. Making a cooler can be as easy as dropping a pump in a 5 gallon pail of water. You don't need a heat exchanger if you have a large volume. I personally used municipal water until I found a used cooler at the right price. As DSW said, it's cheaper to buy the machine alone and make up the rest.
Reply:I use copper blocks 5"x4"x3", One fell off the edge of the table, landed squarely on the SSC pedal. The pedal is good as new! It is a great product at a great price!

Reply:I've seen ads with hours on the machine so I figured you could tell what the hours were. I'm gonna get a new machine if a good deal doesn't pop up in a week. I'm gonna get the ck 20 series torch, build my own cooler for now and get the ssc pedal.

Reply:I'm gonna get the DX from cyber weld, just the power source. Any cautions I should have or just order a miller dynasty 200 DX?

Reply:No, just standard 220 plug.
