Model:The PowerArc 140 ST from Everlast is a perfect choice for the customer who has a farm, home shop or even a small fabrication business. This is the unit to have while you are out on the trail, at the track or just in your shop doing everyday fabrication chores. In fact, you can say goodbye to heavy transformer welder sitting in the corner. The dual-voltage IGBT inverter design allows the unit to go anywhere, and operate off of any standard power outlet. Maximum amp output operating on 240V is 140 amps for TIG and Stick. The amp output while operating on 120V is 87 (+- 3) amps for stick and 95(+-3) amps for TIG. The PowerArc 140ST will weld almost any metal except for aluminum and magnesium with its stick or lift-arc TIG feature. The PowerArc 140 ST comes with about everything you need to weld, including a convenient carry case (except TIG regulator and Tungsten). The stick and a standard 17 series gas-valve TIG torch, along with the work clamp are included as part of the welder package. Included also is a small starter kit of consumables for TIG. Nothing needs to be changed internally to go between 240V and 120V operation. The unit performs equally well in either stick or TIG mode. The unit can weld electrodes from 1/16 in. up to 1/8 in. thick in stick mode, and can weld up to 3/16 in. plate metal in a single pass. E6011, E6013, E7014 and E7018 stick welding rods (electrodes) all weld easily due to the automatic hot start and adaptive arc force control.Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk

Reply:Go to your local welding shop, and ask about their scrap metal dumpster...Sheet metal shops have tons of it....Is there a chart of recommended settings on your welders door???What model is it??BTW,Those welds of mine were on the 1/8 steel settings....Hot and fast....

Reply:I just got the Everlast 140st too. Never welded before and plan to teach myself stick first and maybe try tig later if I have a big enough project. Do recycling/scrap yards generally sell their scrap to the public? There's a place near me that buys scrap. Maybe I can just sit in front and buy from people before they go in.Using TapatalkArc length& torch angle is a very important part of proper mig welding. Even with the settings "perfect" you can have a hard time. Pushing or pulling the bead is fine with the right technique. Like stated above, watch Jody's videos on welding tips n tricks. What kind of gas is your mig gas ? What kind of wire are you using?Thermal arc 211iCk flex-loc 150 & 130Clamps, saws & grindersHarbor freight 80 amp inverter
Reply:The scrap yard is great if you're getting a piece with the right shapes and features you can't form at home, (like the SS beer keg I bought last week), the back door of a metal shop might have cleaner pieces, less paint and rust is better for practice. A new TIG, if you can afford it, will improve your eye for MIG and stick too, go for it.SqWave 200Millermatic 190Airco 200 ACHypertherm PM45Boice-Crane Band SawVictor O/A
