Was at the farm hunting this weekend. The farmer had this cool target for .22LR. The idea is to hit it and it will keep rolling farther away. I am going to see if my buddy can cut this with his plasma cam for me.Material is AR500, 1/4"."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"

Reply:Those are cool. But a chunk of AR500 is not cheap. If your only going to use a 22 why not just use 1/4 MS. It should hold up just fine.Offering CNC Plasma cutting and welding projects.Follow me on facebook https://www.facebook.com/nobigdeal.fabSupport those that support WW.
Reply:lol, ask your buddy to create something, then tell him you want to SHOOT at it!Seriously, thats a nice target.Lincoln AC/DC 225/125 and WP17. 75A AC is for pipe thawing!HH 140 - new addtion 9/2012.I didn't agree, but hoped for Hope and Change.I got change for myself and my family: for the worse. This is the reality of: Barackalypse Now. Reply:Are you sure a .22 will roll it?  I've shot some light swinging targets out to 50 yards that don't always swing far enough to stay up.  For .22 use, 1/8 or 3/16 MS is prolly enough.Definately want to be out away from things.  I'd bet almost every shot bounces off to who knows where. My name's not Jim....

Reply:Great, Thanks. Now I have to build a couple of these to try out. Reply:How much do you wanna pay? I can easily chop up some 5/8 AR500 if I need to pierce with my plasma. If we edge start I can go 1 inch thick. How much AR500 does it take to stop a 50BMG........On that note the largest caliber I have is 7.62x54R so that's as large as I could reasonably test. (unless someone wants to loan out some serious hardware.Last edited by ★ NoBigDeal Fab ★; 11-25-2012 at 09:59 PM.Offering CNC Plasma cutting and welding projects.Follow me on facebook https://www.facebook.com/nobigdeal.fabSupport those that support WW.
Reply:That is a cool target idea, that would be cool to make, or you could buy one. http://www.tumblingtarget.com/index.htmlI have seen also a rubber self sealing cube with the same Idea in mind, my friend bought one.
Reply:Nice!  RIcochete is always a problem even with fancy traps at indoor ranges.  Strangely the smaller stuff like shot and 22s are the bigger problem.  Pin shooting though, every once in a while a whole FMJ 45acp slug will bounce right back at you.Hopefully here though I won't have to go into the importance of eye and ear protection!
Reply:I saw some of these last time I was in the States, back in Sept I think..........they were at a C-A-L Ranch store and I believe they were 9 dollars each.  I'm pretty sure they were made of mild steel.  For 9 bucks, it would be far cheaper to buy it.  They also had a bunch of different hard rubber targets in different shapes and sizes that rolled around when hit, but those suckers were pretty spendy, like 30 bucks each.6 Miller Big Blue 600 Air Paks2 Miller 400D6 Lincoln LN-25's4 Miller Xtreme 12VS2 Miller Dimension 812 4 Climax BW-3000Z bore welders Hypertherm 65 and 85Bug-O Track BugPair of Welpers

If you get it worked out, can you send me a file or something, that would be "plug & play", so my buddy can make me some?"Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:These things are pretty fun. The second target worked perfectly. It flipped every time. The first target would flip most times but every once and while it would just lift a leg and drop back down. It's stance was simply too wide. As for the ricochet concern... take a look at the second photo. The lead drops right at the target in nice little rounds. I did find one fragment... but looking at the target... it's clear I grazed them a time or two. I still have both my eyes.  Attached Images
Reply:That's pretty cool. I know the 4-H air rifle/ air pistol guys want me to build a few reaction targets for them next year at some point. I'm thinking  a light weight dueling tree, but some of these out of 1/8" might work as well especially the critter shaped ones. The kids love shooting the small silhouettes, but going down range to reset them takes a lot of time out of the limited shooting time available.Keep posting ideas, I'm keeping notes!.No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:I'm thinking of something either along those lines, or one of the dueling trees where the kids shoot the targets flip from one side of the tree to the other. This would let them compete against a 2nd person. The trick to this will be making the targets light enough that the low powered air rifles and pistols the 4-H uses will trip the targets, yet have then sturdy enough that they hold up well. I think the .177 pellets are only going 700-800 fps compared to my RWS pellet gun that's cranking them out close to 1100-1200 fps.Next time I take a trip to Cabelas I'm taking my camera and a tape and I'll look at some of their small pellet targets. I know I can build them, it's just getting the dimensions correct..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Walking targets look nice, but on a crowded range, they might just walk over close to that guy shooting 7.62 or 30-06!  I got a mild steel swing set ready to try out this weekend with handguns.
