Burnt Bandsaw

Well I burnt the motor on my hf bandsaw today. I haven't had it very long, so I am going to try and return it. My question is has anybody ever returned one? If so can I just swap the motor because I don't want to set up a new one.
Reply:My dealings with HF have been about 50/50 on returns. I would think no longer than you had yours though they would be willing to just get you a new motor or exchange the whole bandsaw which ever you would prefer. What size motor did yours have on it? Mine is 1/3 hp. it was sold by Orschelin's and has Tradesman for a name brand on it. It looks pretty much the same as most of the rest of the ones on the market.     My main problem with HF was over a blast cabinet I bought from them. It was a piece of crap I told them about what I thought about it, but never got any good response from them. They told me I had it too long. Maybe I did, but I only used it twice, the first time I used it I had more blast media on my work bench then I did in the cabinet as the door seals didn't seal worth a hoot. The second time I went to use it about 90 days later, the gloves had pretty well rotted. Awhile back while I was in there store I saw one of the floor models like the one I had and low and behold the gloves on it had rotted also. There were no fingers in them.    Another time though I bought a ram for a cherry picker from them and the seal leaked badly on it. They replaced it very promptly and treated me great about the whole thing. I think it just makes a whole lot of difference what person you deal with and how they are feeling on that particular day. Reply:I'm by no means a salesmen, just mearly a small hobby welder that happens to work at an electric motor distributor. I figured I would make this post just in case anyone needs to find any replacement motors for your saws or machine tools in the future.  Don you can just swap the motor out.  If you need any motors in the future you can use our web site www.emotorstore.com or call 1-800-922-1882 and the guys here can help cross reference most motors. They just helped me replace my bandsaw motor (as i know nothing about motors, I just work here...haha), thats why this thread caught my eye.Whether you think you can or can't - you are right

Reply:I just replaced my HF bandsaw motor with the Grizzly 3/4 HP and that 3/4 is much bigger then the HF one. heavy sucka too.
