This is excellent for those who want a good visual to help with uphill.  I really like the real color as opposed to the stupid "thru the lense" color.  The Viking Cam sucks BTW http://www.lincolnelectric.com/en-us...al-detail.aspx"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Thanks that was interesting, never knew of doing a third pass on a weld. Agreed that showing in colour camera its way better than most videos.

Reply:A helmet with a camera and LCD screen? A remote camera that you can stick up into places your head don't fit. I'd love one please!

Many times I have welded with a mirror and only being able to see with one eye at a time and did just fine. I would think as long as I am oriented right with the camera I could weld just fine watching a TV screen.

Reply:I have heard 3 time the diameter, then 6, or 4.  Truth is that you should weave as little as possible.  There is no specifics in D1.1 (that I know of)  about weave width, but for strength, stringers are the way to go.  In my opinion he weave was way to wide for anything other then aesthetic value.Sent from my DROID3 using Tapatalk 2Jay DavisAWS-CWIC-60 Specialty Welding ContractorLoving husband, and father of two boys (
Reply:Beings the guy is an instructor, I am definitely not impressed  with the quality of the weld beads he was producing. Very inconsistant on his travel. My instructors would have never signed me off on the quality of weld he was producing.  For the root pass I was taught to use a straight travel or a very slight wiggle. He seems to be zig-zagging upward at a somewhat steep angle. After the root we'd run two overlapping stringers. Then these were covered with a weave.ESAB Migmaster 250 Hobart Ironman 230Multimatic 215TWECO Fabricator 181i & 211iHH125EZ - nice little fluxcore only unitMaxstar 150 STH - very nice

Reply:on a nyc dot test  using 5/32's rod you can weave up to 3/4 " and pass test  on an 1/8 " rod about 1/2 "  or just under    would be the weave limits for this test
Reply:He could of turned his heat up just a little bit.  The final cover pass doesn't seem smooth enough.Lincoln 300 Vantage 2008300 Commander 1999SA250 1999SA200 1968Miller Syncrowave 200XMT350MPA/S-52E/xr-15Xtreme 12vs Millermatic 251 w/30A  Millermatic 251 Dialarc 250 Hypertherm 1250 GEKA & Bantom Ironwokers
