Well, for my on and off welding needs, I have been using a crackle box for about 20 years. I figure it's about time to move my equipment into the 21st. century. Most of my welding needs involve 1/4" or maybe 5/16" or less. I have gotten reasonably proficient with 5/64" 6013 on sheet metal, but I think a MIG will help me alot.I am looking at a Hobart Handler 180. I prefer 220V as my crackle box outlet would serve for either. I plan on using the crackle box for the occasional heavier welding that I do.I have read some about automatic wire feed and so forth. I want whatever will be easiest to learn to use as I am definitely not a born welder.Any brand, wire feed type, or any other recommendations and comments are very welcome. Thanks in advance for your time and help,Doc"I live so far out in the boondocks, my TV runs on Propane."
Reply:Yhe HH189 is aan excellent machine.
Reply:MB,You posted esentially the same question on another board, but I'll answer it anyway. For an experienced weldor, I'd lean toward a tapped machine, like the HH140-180 class. Good machines; reasonable prices.Hank |
