I'm looking to find out the differences in the cert testing for D1.5 in SMAW, versus the structural D1.1 or D5.1 I've read some conflicting info on what grades of steel need to be used in the test, and whether both vertical and overhead are included in one test, etc., or any differences from the 1.1 OR 5.1 you guys can think of please?
Reply:I know I've taken them all, but it has been so long now I can't remember. I think the last time I tested was in the early 1990s. I have a gut feeling it's how much / size of inclusions / flaws that are acceptable. Around here you have to take a 3-G, and a 4-G test. 1-inch thick.
