I showed someone my small jet 4x6 horizontal bandsaw last week making some cuts and was offered just about what i paid to sell it. I always like to upgrade my tools if i can! I am not for sure going to sell it but i wouldnt mind the larger one with the cooling and hydraulic assist. So now i am torn between bandsaw brands in the 7X12 size. MY blade supplier said the Dake stuff is pretty good and so is the Wilton. There are so many to choose from though! I searched all the posts on this forum and the hobart forum for reviews, opinions, problems. Seems to me some of them are the same company and are just labeled differantly. I know ellis stuff is very nice but its more then i want to spend.Anyone know the best saw for the price or are we talkin preference again? Kinda want this one to be the last one i buy if possible, last forever. Hoping to spend around 1200 or less.

Reply:I've got a 7x12 Jet, had it for years. At first I had reservations about it, but it has done everything i could ask of a little saw. It is certainly not a "Wells", or "marvel" or one of the top usa made units, But on the other hand, it is very well made, considering it was made by 8 year old chinese children. No offense intended, But my american children wont get off the couch, let alone build a bandsaw! I've seen many other asian saws, with different names, that were virtually identical. Enco usually has the same asian copy, for around 800.00, and free shipping somtimes. check'em out.http://www.use-enco.comWe need to protect Freedom of Speech, otherwise, how would we know who the A-holes (like me) are. |
