Seeing the post on cutting stainless steel, I wanted to mention the use of "Uni-bit" or step-drill bits for drilling stainless sheet. I have drilled several scrap beer kegs to weld on a 1/2 pipe nipple for various brewing vessels, and these bits have worked great! At first I used a good quality hole saw, but the Uni-bit cuts much cleaner. Plus, with Uni-bit you can easily increase the hole size since the bit self centers, something you can't do with a hole saw. |
