When I wanted to add a light-duty hitch to my Dodge Caliber, I decided to go with a hidden version that didn't show when I wasn't using it. Dodge used to sell a custom version similar to this, but no longer offers it. Obviously, the car has a very low towing capacity and I only use the hitch for a lightweight kayak trailer, or with a bicycle carrier rack. The uni-frame was pre-drilled for a hitch, which made things pretty easy. The shape was dictated by the spare tire location.Hitch head. Reply:jmhoyingHow about some photos of the welds before the paint.Hitches are #1 on Insurance Company hit-lists for a reason; and even through the paint, your welds have issues.Opus
Reply:I've had this hitch on the car for a little over a year now, with at least 3,000 miles of towing the small kayak trailer, and many more miles with a bike rack attached. Obviously, this is a light duty hitch on a small car, not a class-4 hitch. The caliber has a 150 lbs max tongue weight towing capacity, but I tested it at over 400 lbs in the driveway.JackFort Loramie, OhioMilermatic Autoset 180
