I guess this qualifies as a tool...What are some good/easy to use 3D CAD programs that I can design jobs with (mainly handrail designs..etc.)? Any pros/cons for each would be helpful as well. thanks!

Reply:There is also one called Blender. I have it but up still working on how to use it. It is also freeware, but it is more for 3d graphics.http://www.blender3d.org/cms/Home.2.0.html
Reply:SketchUp makes it fairly easy to create simple shapes. For most of my metal and wood projects, I use TurboCAD. I find it much easier to create accurately dimensioned and annotated 2D drawings using this program. I think there's a free trial, but eventually you have to pay for it...
Reply:sweet, thanks for the suggestions, guys. I'll check them out and see which one I like the best.

Reply:I use Wildfire 2.0. It costs about $10 grand if you get both ProEngineer and ProMechanica. It's a very powerful tool and can even calculate stresses and deflections of you part once loaded. |
