Another TIG Save

I had to replace this very expensive hand winch because some moron decided to run the cable under the idler shaft and destroy it.I figured I could use this somewhere and the fact that they are $450 new made me want to repair it.TIG welded with a 1/16" tungsten stuck out far to get in the groove, I used 309 filler because you never know what they make these things out ofAll done ready for something when I need a winchDisclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."

Reply:Nice repair. I can't tell from the first picture but it appears to have cracked through. Did you re-assemble it for the photo or did someone catch it right before it really tore things up?
Reply:It cracked when I tried to drive the pin out of the gear to pull it apart, I finally said the hell with it and welded it where it sat. I did think long and hard about spinning down a new shaft, but the cost ouweighed the gain.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
