I have used water cooled at school.... but only air cooled at home.....The last machine I bought had a 17 style torch..... but the hose looked ratty..... This past weekend I discovered at least one hole that was leaking Argon...... (PIC 1) which easily broke the rubber with just a little twist...... (PIC 2).......Today.... I decided to dissect the hose.... since i heard it's best to just get a new one.....Now I know how these things are made..... very simple..... (I honestly never knew this before....)Two ends that will fit into any machine with the right connector..... Twisted copper innards...... with a rubber hose....... and ta da..... a TIG torch with hose......PICS of my "How It's Made" investigation on my bunk hose...... Reply:Cool Fex, I always wondered what it looked like. I was wrong, I thought it was more like a hydraulic hose, where the conductor was braided around an inner hose. Now it makes sense why I have read about guys using an old tig hose as a whip for a stick stinger. Good job man!"Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:Interesting to see the guts! Does anyone have a suggestion as to where to purchase the connectors? I have a Longevity 200 SX; it comes with a 26 style torch and the hose connection to the welder is an odd size. I was thinking of  purchasing a 9 style torch and fitting it to the machine, but my LWS and CK worldwide dont have the right size. The 9 style torch hex nut is much smaller, and any old male-male connection wont allow the recessed brass compression fitting to make an airtight seal with the female end of the hose outlet on the welder. I'm aware that the 9 style torch can only handle a much lower amperage but that isnt an issue for me since I'm only running on 110V and doing small scale, thin stuff. Thanks!
Reply:Good info, and nice pics, too!

Reply:Those old TIG cables make a nice light stinger.

Reply:So Fexal, as a chalange, are you gonna try to put that conductor in a new hose? Perhaps as a spare?Miller thunderbolt 250Decastar 135ERecovering tool-o-holic ESAB OAI have been interested or involved in Electrical, Fire Alarm, Auto, Marine, Welding, Electronics ETC to name a just a few. So YES you can own too many tools.

Reply:Water is a far supperior means of heat reduction than air. Thus the reason most cars are water cooled instead of air cooled. and also why you see more and more ATV's and motorcycles moving to watercooled. There are no problems. There are only solutions. It's your duty to determine the right one.Hobart Handler 210Airco 225 Amp MSM Stinger

Reply:You can still use the cable for TIG welding, but you will have to use flux core MIG wire as filler
Reply:Originally Posted by OscarAre you wanting to replace the 26 torch entirely BUT use the same power/gas cable?Or are you wanting to use a 9 series torch with it's own new power/gas cable?I just did some mod'ing on my Eastwood TIG200, which is basically the same kinda machine, so I'm pretty sure the tig connections are the same at the welder.
Reply:Do yourself a favor and get a decently flexible welding leads cover/protector to maintain that your new CK superflex cable that you just ordered.  Best of luck!

Reply:Originally Posted by Go1lumWTF are you talking about? What's this flux core MIG wire you are talking about? Is this some new hybrid welding process, Flux Core Mig Welding? You are an idiot. FCAW-S,G and GMAW are two totally different processes. And no you can't use FCAW wire as filler for GTAW. TIG isn't designed to use filler with fluxes. It's a non-consumable arc, where as FCAW is a tubular wire that is designed to be deposited across the arc (consumable arc). You can however use GMAW solid wire as filler.
