I'm the manager of a non profit, and I have no clue about welding other than its a good paying career field to get into. I have some verbal commitments from some shipyards here in the area. They will hire our trainees upon successful completion of our program. I want to build out a large trailer to house the training area. Ideally with 5 to 7 stations. Can someone give me opinions on the Lincoln/Miller inverter and the invertec 275

Reply:Who would start a shoplifter school! Must need to go up to 2.0 diopter.edit: Sorry for hi-jack just laughing at my on stupidity. On power sources get as much input from shipyards as possible.Last edited by OHT; 09-10-2014 at 02:32 PM.
Reply:If you're going to be putting out entry level shipyard welders, I would think you'd want multi-purpose wire set-ups and a couple machines that can handle gouging better than inverters.
Reply:Have you asked the shipyards first to see what they use or would recommend? No sense training on Lincolns if they will be driving Cadillacs.
Reply:Watch out that you are not putting the cart before the horse.Find out what the Shipfitter needs to know to be employable, then design a curriculum to teach the skills.Consider "Cooperative Education" where the shipyard cooperates with you (the school) by loaning you technical guidance and perhaps some equipment.Google MAGER to learn about curriculum design. Where are you?, maybe I could meet with you and offer assistance.I offer three choices: Good, Fast, & Cheap. You may pick two.Hobart AC/DC StikMate LXHarbor Freight AD HoodHarbor Freight Industrial Chop SawDeVilbis 20 Gallon, 5 HP Compressor |
