Soooo any reason why I can't t a 1/4-20 hole I drill in some cast alum baseplates for guy?Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Reply:Why couldn't you? No. 7 drill countersink and tap??More info would get a better answer...a base for what? Whats the physical size of the base? How deep? What's it fastening to said base? Have a picture?
Reply:Okay I don't have time to load pictures now, but I will. They are base plates for outdoor lamps. The kind that mount to a pole. The guy bought matching base plates to install on dock piSent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Reply:Opps dock ballads in Ft Lauderdale. But they don't have a 3" or so round pipe on top of base. He asked that I weld them first, but that would damage his hand rubbed bronze finish. So I suggested I drill and tap the base them put pip sections on top with 1/4-20 blots into the bottom of base. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Reply:Use kerosene to tap and put grease on the threads of the bolt.
Reply:Wow I was just looking at the spelling on that last post, per coffee typingSent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Reply:My machinists... old timers... always used kerosene. |
