i just purchased a air compress from a coworker and the pressure gauge is broken, it measures up to 150psi. i was thinking of replacing it and picked up a liquid filled gage that measure up to 200psi, theres a warning lable on it and says Do not use on oxygen service. Would this apply to the air compressor? or does it just mean for pure oxygen?
Reply:The warning is to not use it on an oxygen regulator, or similar. It will be fine for your air compressor.

Reply:i have another question, the air tank is cylinder shape. On one of the ends it has two 1/4 NPT holes, one directly in the center and the other below center and at an angle. right now it has a broken air pressure gauge in the center hole and a short pipe with a quick tool change connector on the bottem hole. what i was thinking of doing is add a 4 way connector to the center hole, and to the 4 way connector one end would be connected to the air tank. a air pressure gage connected to one of the sides of the openings and a safety relief value on the other side and directly opposite of the air tank connection a quick change connector. and for the bottem hole i was just thinking of adding a drain plug. now my question is. would this setup be ok and using a 4 way connector would it affect the gage, or safety valve or the quick disconnect. as in false readings or valve failure or anything like that
Reply:You should be fine as long as you're not interfering with the drain or any liquid if you forget to drain it.
Reply:Also, rather than a drain plug get a quarter-turn drain valve so you actually drain the tank after you use it. Leaving water in ain't good for the steel.Jim |
