is their any money in it and weir do you buy the supplies and what side welder con I do it with a Lincoln pro mig 140?
Reply:No, there is no money in it.No, you can't do it with any 110v mig unit.
Reply:No. Go back to school.
Reply:There is no real money in it if you are using a 110v..... (after the lawsuits when they come apart and kill people...)A 110v is fine for building light trailers to pull behind ATVs and such, but I wouldn't put one on the road.

Reply:On a side note, since this is probably a CD in the microwave anyway, threadwise, I know the trailer building thing is a big source of rage and bloody patches on the ground, anyone round here got a link to a funny thread?Preferably something where everyone got banned and the whole universe collapsed on itself?I'm bored tonight, and I'm never gonna build a trailer out of stock steel. If you fight long enough, you will win. The problem is it costs too damned much.- Lee Cheng

Reply:I don't know what everyone is freaking out about. I stuck my trailer together with chewing gum a paper clip and a couple of toothpicks McGyver style. Granted, I still lost money on it when I sold it. The guy wouldn't come up on his offer. something about not using home depot steel, and that he'd have to redo all the welds with his 110v mig from Harbor freight. I hauled a D5 on that single axle trailer. I don't know what his problem was. I even got the 8" tires from harbor freight. It's not like I cheaped out on the build. There are no problems. Reply:I love these threads. Half the time I'm here looking at projects and ideas, the rest is just for the comments. As for trailers, you should see what what I bounce through the fields stacking bales on. Before my father was in high school, my grandfather bought a home made flatbed trailer. The frame and running gear were from a 40s truck. To get the deck as low as possible, the truck rims were cut to allow car tires to fit. The front of the frame was bent in and a tractor hitch welded on. During the 50-60s, the trailer had a wooden deck that rotted out years before I ever saw it. My uncle replaced the wood deck with a sheet metal deck. I only remember that deck as the source of stitches and tetanus shots. It was thin sheet, never stored under cover, and was rapidly rusting away because the only protective coating it had was iron oxide and some loose hay that wasn't swept off. When I was in high school, and tired of getting cut, I got my first big welding project. Cut off the sheet metal deck (what was left of it) and weld on metal grating. I had a lot of fun building it. All 6011 with our old miller thunderbolt. I'm still using it today, but I've since had to replace the hitch. The frame formed into the hitch could only take a few decades bouncing through our fields before giving up.Lincoln Precision Tig 185Lincoln Power Mig 256Hypertherm PM 45Everlast 140STSmith O/A

Not saying he shouldn't build the trailer, just get the right machine, and buy your material right/ smart..
