Quick dirty way to grind tungsten....

Was going to do some Aluminum TIG today, the global warming let up enough to let someone enjoy being outside.Broke open a brand spankin new 1/8 tungsten... took the square end to the trusty 4.5 angle grinder and proceeded to do a great job of putting a new face on the grinding wheel.  I mean slicker than oil on water.After looking at the mildly polished end of the tungsten I looked at the Drill Doctor.  Figured 'diamond grind stone... gotta do something'.  I'll be darned if THAT didn't cut it.  That tungsten didn't have a prayer.  Ground it to a nice sharp point.  Was kind of a juggle to hold the DrD in one hand and the tungsten in the other, but by golly I managed.It didn't seem to bother the wheel in the DrD.  Didn't take much pressure to make it cut either.Figured I pass that helpful hint along.  Seeing as I like to void the warranty on just about every new piece of machinery I own... Sharpening tungstens in a tool used to sharpen drill bits was just in the nature of things.
Reply:I just use a 240 or so grit stone on a 5300 R.P.M.or so grinder...Cheap grinding stones dont "cut it"...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:so much for a dedicated tungsten sharpener.....aren't you guys contaminating the tungsten?I use the chemical sharpener. Reply:Right, use dc, short the tip to glowing red hot, dip into powder, lift out, watch it glow hotter and drip the liquid off, redip to get a finer point. It has a chemical reaction that keeps it going each time you dip it. Pretty neat stuff. I wasted a whole tungsten when I first got it just watching the process and showing my wife. Reply:I got a little hand held tungsten grinder at www.arc-zone.com and have been using that.  It works good!  They are local for me here in San Diego and have been great people to deal with.
Reply:We use a bench grinder with a cup of water for cooling it at work.  Just don't expect to grind to many.  Your hand will start to go numb pretty quick.
Reply:I use a bench grinder and a Makita cordless angle drill. Its fast and does a great job. I'll do a bunch at 1 time. I mess them up at school  and bring them home to sharpen. Its easir.mm135HTP Invertig 201 With water cooler9" Southbend LatheLots of hand tools.
Reply:Bench grinder with a 6" diamond wheel.  The chemical sharpening doesn't leave the "machine" finish that leads to better arc control.
