I just took delivery of a brand new Invision 352 MPa w/D74 MPa Dual Feeder MigRunner Package. It is a little bit overwhelming in all the parameters one can set.  Does anybody have any suggestions on setting some of the capabilities and use cases.  We predominently weld Process and Ag Tanks, Cabinetry / Enclosures for Electronics and Computers in CR, SS and AL.  Some Food and Beverage. One thing I am Not sure of is the Guns.  It came with 2-Bernard Q-400's and a XR-Aluma-Pro gun as a package.  All of them are really BIG guns.  I think I would have prefered 200/300 Amp Guns as it is pretty rare that we weld much over 200 Amps on anything, at least not long / continuous welds in that range.  We need to get into tight places and inside / outside corners a lot.We currently use MM's and SyncroWaves, but are upgrading to better technology and fewer machines.  Hopefully the Invision will replace at least two MM's setup for different processes and a lot of the Tig we do now.Precision Fabrication and Weld asthetics are two of the most important aspects along with overall weld quality in our processes.BTW:  The manuals are not the best when it comes to introducing you to the machine.  They pretty much assume you already know how to use it and what the function of every parameter is.  No setup examples, no use examples, no DVD, Nothing.Any suggestions / feedback would be much appreciated.Peter
Reply:Sounds like a nice setup. Not familiar with the Invisions but a few general things-You can change out one or both of the Q400 guns for smaller Bernard or competitive guns. Pretty much anything with a Miller back end should fit that feeder. If your LWS is cool they may even let you exchange those guns for the ones you want.I hear you about the manuals. Lincoln manuals for higher end machines are similar. I guess they figure if you are using such an advanced welder, you already know the basics. I just wish they had more info about the various modes, settings, etc. and what they do.Get to know the pulse modes and how they work. Pulse makes a lot of things easier, like vertical or overhead welding, or welding thinner metals. If that machine has Profile Pulse, it's a mode that makes "TIG-like" beads on Aluminum. Finally, if the manuals are no help, call Miller's support line. For all the $$$ you spent on that equipment, they should be happy to answer your questions.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
Reply:A Miller field rep should be able to help you get set up.
