Reply:Well, let's say that you're building a pre-runner bumper for your truck. The main tube you used is 1.75" tubing and now you want to add an over-rider that is 1.25". You would want to cope the 1.25" tube to fit the 1.75" tube. So in this particular case you would want to use a 1.75" hole saw...make sense? In other words, always use the diameter of what ever tube you are welding the notched tube to.Hope this helps.http://all-a-cart.comWelding Cart Kits and accessories

Reply:My Harbor Freight will do the job almost as well as the others. The holding clamp is a little flimsy but can be easily upgraded, but the shaft was definitely tight in the bushing from the get-go. Couldn't be turned by hand.
Reply:I have the JD2 Notchmaster coming. It should be here today. I looked at all the other notchers. I liked the JMR but it was a little more than I wanted to spend. JD2 was the next best. All the others looked flimsy. I'll let you know how it works.mm135HTP Invertig 201 With water cooler9" Southbend LatheLots of hand tools.
Reply:I have the harbor freight notcher and love it. I have done a lot of tube and schedule 40 pipe with no problems at all the the fit was great. The one piece of advise I would give is to get good hole saws. I use the morse line now after trying some others out. Good hole saws make this notcher a great rig.Miller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed.
