Distortion Control

I work as a CWI / Weld process engineer in a manufacturing plant that mainly deals with close tolerance sheet metal fabrications.  In an effort to control distortion I have searched every corner of the web and exhausted every text resource and personal experience I have available. I have been able to overcome many distortion problems through various methods but It is not enough.  We work in stainless, brass, muntz, copper and mild steel. Although distortion always plays a factor in everything we do here, one process is of particular concern: MIG welding 7 through 14 gage ASTM A606 (CORTEN)/ER70S-6/short-circuiting/all positions. I am open to any and all suggestions and/or advise from anyone who thinks they can help.  No matter what your background, if you have welded you have dealt with distortion in one way or another.
