Hey guys just ordered my lincoln 305G. Should be able to pick it up next week. Just wondering on the new lincoln 305 g I noticed in the picture there is no arc force knob and no pipe mode settings? but in the description it says it has a pipe mode and the arc force. But I have seen the 305g in person with no knobs. And no pipe mode switch. So how do I use it? Thanks.
Reply:Weldermike will know .
Reply:There is a door that flips down in the front with the controls for the arc force and to change the welding process/ mode.Nothing Ever Got Done By Quitting, Never Give Up.
Reply:Thanks for the info!! When did they start that and quit with the knobs and switches? How do yall like your 305g's!? Thanks
Reply:I think they still use knobs and swtiches, mine does, but its an older model. I really like my 305g, I had to change a ignition coil this year, last year had the fuel pump rebuilt. But I tell you now it runs and welds better than ever. I wish I could get more work for it.Nothing Ever Got Done By Quitting, Never Give Up.
Reply:Well that's good you haven't had any major problems. I'm pretty excited to pick mine up! Any tips and tricks to getting it set up?
Reply:What I did, since it doesn't come with a polarity switch, is make a couple of short leads with quick connects on them. If I want to take the leads off or switch polarity its an quick easy change over. I never got around to building a skid but right off the bat I made a little stand to hang up my cables. Play around with the arc force and see how it works for you at the same amperage and different levels of arc force, I like to run it around plus 1 or 2 mostly.when you change the oil make sure you write the date and hours on the oil filter.Nothing Ever Got Done By Quitting, Never Give Up.
Reply:Be careful when filling the gas tank! I know there was an issue with the new 305-Gs about filling the tank too much, or something like that! Reply:Oops sorry, just saw this now. Yes, correct, your pipe/arc force modes and adjustments are under the front panal when you flip it down. The door opener is on the far right. As far as the gas issue goes which is a kohler issue, i just dont fill it all the way anymore and every once in a while just crack the cap open. From what i read they use a ventless cap now to "save the enviroment" and in turn they are venting it back through the carburator and it is overloading the cylenders with fuel and washing the cylender walls. I just play it safe and dont fill her up all the way and keep crackin the cap to let pressure out. Im not sure what they did with the new efi models tho. Is yours efi? Reply:I've seen in some of the several catalogs that pass through the shop caps with a vent port in the top you close for what they call "transport". You can open and close this twist knob with a gloved hand to allow the tank to vent when in operation. I've never been fond of pressure type fuel storage systems as they always lead to engine flooding, especially when warm.SlobPurveyor of intimate unparalleled knowledge of nothing about everything.Oh yeah, also an unabashed internet "Troll" too.....
Reply:Wish my little GXT had a non vented cap. I'm tired of having to fight with water in the fuel Condensation plays hell with itHave the same problem with my diesel engines. Always collecting water in the fuel. At least I was able to install a water separator to solve the problem with the bigger motors (aftermarket NAPA separator), there's no room in the Ranger for that kind of setup though.I use Marine Stabil, but so far it hasn't addressed the problem. It has kept the carb clean though between uses. I swear by it. No more sludge buildup in the carb when it dries out during long periods of disuse.WHAT I REALLY NEED TO DO IS TO START THE STUPID WELDER AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK "Sam, you're a MORON""Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/ |
