Folks I finally got a Horizontal bandsaw for my shop.   My son bought it for me at an auction.   I have looked and looked for an American Made saw and had decided that Maybe I should break down and just order a Grizzly.   Waiting paid off.  The Saw is a FMB Phoenix .( Made in Italy, still foreign, but seems to be very tight.)  Got it unloaded and started cleaning on it. I decided to cut a piece of 4 x4 x1/4 tubing and  discovered that the coolant pump doesnt work.   Any ideas or suggestions on best source to get one .  I called the dealer and they want $275.00 plus tax and freight.   I will post some photos as soon as I figure out how to post them. Reply:I bought a $60 water pump from home depot not expecting too much longevity but so far it has been holding up really well. some water pumps use impellers that are of a material that will swell up a bit from the coolant but this one is fine for a good long while now and from how reliable it's been I don't expect it to quit anytime soonmiller 330a bp TIGmiller dynasty 200DX TIGmillermatic 185 MIGthermal dynamics cutmaster 101 plasma cuttersnap-on YA5550 plasma cutterhypertherm powermax 30 plasma cutterbaileigh CS225 cold sawetc....

Reply:Thanks  I really appreciate the informatin regarding the suggestions on the pump. My son suggested that we put a large high strength bar magnet in the coolant tank to help catch some of the metal particles.  I hadnt thought of that.   Richey
Reply:For the most part the metal chips are going to sink right to the bottom so just sit your pump on a hunk of metal to keep it off the bottom, it would take a pretty fine strainer to keep out saw chips anyways.
Reply:Tons of options out there from parts washer pumps to dedicated cooling pumps.  Look up someone like travers or enco.
Reply:Thanks   cd19 for your help. Thats a good point.  Richey
Reply:My coolant pump sticks when not used often. All I have to do is free up the shaft by turning with some pliers until it turns freely.  Yours may be in this condition.
