hi all this is Troy again. someone gave me a 1987 lincoln 225/210 gas welder and it wasnt running when i got it. i got to stated and running great then i wen to plug something in to the generator outlet and there was no juice. i did find a 250v fuse but im not sure if that is the problem. i'm replacing the fuse tomorrow but does anyone else have any ideas on what else it could be or what i should try if its still not running after the new fuse thanks again for everyones help on here
Reply:After you replace the fuse, if you still get nothing, then recheck the new fuse. If it is now blown then there is something causing it to blow, so further investigation will be needed. Have you taken all the sheet metal off and given it a good blowing out with an air hose?
Reply:Be sure the 2 slip rings are clean and shiny - not brown or green (below). 320 grit or finer sandpaper works well; as Duane B always recommends. Also, make sure the 2 brushes aren't rusted stuck in the holders and the springs are holding them firmly against the slip rings. Then make sure all wires are connected, no broken wires, no corrosion on any terminals. You should start a new thread in the Lincoln part of this forum. Lots of people here with these little Weldanpowers who can help you get it going again. |
