I have not used gas cutting equipment for a few years now and have fogotten what gas pressiors to use. i will be cutting 1/4in thick carbon steel plate using a 3/64th nozzle. Also does anybody have any good tips for cleaning the cutting nozzle apart from using nozzle cleaners.
Reply:Cleaning: cleaning wire set and a tip dresser (little cut shaped thing with a cutting blade for smoothing and flattening the face of the tip before using the wires)Pressures: Depends on the torch and tip. What make and model torch? What size tip?
Reply:A general rule of thumb that I have learned for the oxygen is x5 the acetylene.
Reply:5 psi acetylene and 25 psi on O2, that will do it for 1/4". Use tip cleaners. A number 1 size tip is a good starting point.City of L.A.
