This may be a stupid question, but I've got to ask. I have a nice 400A Tweco mig gun and was wondering if there is a way to adapt it to fit a Lincoln SP-170T welder? Also is there a way to run smaller wire? I don't see any tips or liners less than .035. My gun on the 170 has seen better days and since I had this Tweco lying around I thought why not. Your knowledge would be appreciated.
Reply:yes you can, you need to change the liner, Tweco 44-3545-15 , and the back end connector here is the catalog. I have put a tweco gun on my Harbor freight by machining a new end adapter.Tweco Cataloghttp://victortechnologies.com/IM_Upl...co_Catalog.pdf
Reply:44 generally indicates a 400 amp gun. a 41 or 42 would be for the oem gun on that machine. The wire of the liner is just thicker. A 44 liner had about double the OD of a 42 linerTiger Sales: AHP Distributor www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P, Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma. Reply:Thanks all for the advice. I have been trying to sell this gun for awhile and have had no interest, so thought maybe I could make it work. It's a nice gun. I bought an HTP magnum copy on Ebay, so the Lincoln is back working great.
