Reply:3% more free! I think MDF (medium density fiberboard) is the same way.I have a piece of 2' x 3' x 1" for my TIG table top. It's bowed about .040" in the long direction. Need to get it machined one of these days...
Reply:Not unusual at all for there it to be longer though a full inch longer isn't common. Usually 1/2" to 3/4" oversize is normal.Millermatic 252XMT 304'sDynasty 280DXHypertherm PowerMax 1250Miller Trailblazer 302 EFIOptima PulserXR feeder and XR Edge gun and more athttp://members.dslextreme.com/users/waynecook/index.htm
Reply:Mine come in very close to nominal, maybe +1/4 on the width typically. Length can vary a little more. Sometime I get an odd ball that will have a skewed edge. Steel is sold by weight so the extra inch will add about 40 lbs to your plate. A lot of time one edge will be rounded so take that into account... on a table that can be a plus.
Reply:i think its secondary steel |
