steel layout table

I’m looking for a good clean welding layout table, or a large thick steel plate to make into a table. I’m in the Detroit (Ann Arbor) Michigan area. Anyone nearby looking to move a shop around? Something laying around? I can pick up within the area.
Reply:There is an engineer that is closing shop and has a 4 x 8 table (I think just by looking) of 1/4 " steel top for $100 in the Kansas City area.  I started to price just the steel and wow.Skip Call if interested (816)716-7810
Reply:This may not do you any good, but this is similar to what I'm using.  An old cotton or grain trailer, sides removed.  Flat metal surface.  The one I have is about 8'x14' and you can lift off the chasis if you choose to.  This is something I've had on the farm a long time.  I don't know how hard they are to come by in any given area, if you can find one you will be able to pick it up cheep compaired to new flat metal the same size.
