Would anyone here weld threaded fittings to weld fittings?
Reply:If your asking what I think your asking, sure. Could you be more detailed?
Reply:What kind ? I've welded 2'' extra heavy steel threaded coupling to standard 2 1/2'' schedule 40 plain end pipe instead of using a 2 1/2'' x 2'' reducer and a 2'' threaded nipple. I've back welded extra heavy forged steel threaded fittings to threaded nipples.
Reply:I have a 8 inch 90degree weld fitting and I want to weld a threaded hammerunion to each end (wing half on one end thread half on other end) it hooks to a hose rated for 200 psi
Reply:I would do it. As long as its all weldable steel. Just make sure your beveled edges are good and your welds are good.Last edited by Burnt Glove; 10-27-2014 at 10:58 PM.
Reply:That would seem really tight quarters welding directly to 90. Check with manufacture on material composition to see if it is weldable. If not, weld a schedule 80 nipple with thread on one end to 90 and screw union on to thread. OR , weld a threadolet to 90 and add a threaded nipple between. |
