So many members here are great at taking progress pictures of projects. I'm not one of them. I get caught up in the "just get it done ASAP" mentality. Anyway, quick fix to keep the planter rolling. A bracket that supports the row cleaner on my old JD 7200 planter broke during a stretch of good weather. Shot of the finished bracket:And the welds:Bracket was 1/4", cleaned and ground to a sharp point and welded in 2 passes. Even the small fixes deserve to look good.Lincoln Precision Tig 185Lincoln Power Mig 256Hypertherm PM 45Everlast 140STSmith O/A
Reply:You TIG guys Coulda sticked it, MIG'd it, even O/A'd it, BUT NOOOOOOOOOOO.............GOTTA GET OUT THE OTHER WELDER "Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Yeah, I could have sticked it... but then I'd have slag. My mig is set up with .045 wire, and that piece would hardly be a tack. Soooooooo, I tig it. Probably because this is an outer row unit and it's possible someone other than me might see it. Any of the inner units and it might be different.
