A friend of mine owns a record store in town with a pretty strange entrance. As soon as you walk in you take a right and go up a single step. Unfortunately, to some of his customers his "watch your step signs" and painting the step bright red didn't translate. So we put in a handrail, now the question is do people think "step" when they see a handrail more than when they see an actual step? Attached Images

Reply:No amount of striping, railing , signage or other safety measures are enough to fix "stupid"  (I exclude the old or impaired from that classification).   A large portion of our population have gotten the impression that someone is supposed to be around at all times to make sure they dont screw up and hurt themselves.
Reply:Is there another matching handrail on the other side? If not, that would help. People realize when they are going in a "chute", so to speak.
